| As a service
to its membership, PRVCGA
operates a Cash Fruit
Clearinghouse.
The idea is simple:
Growers list their fruit, buyers
list their desire to purchase
and the two are brought together
through the service.
The Clearinghouse will function
as follows:
Growers will make known
varieties and total boxes for
sale to the association office
by telephone, fax or e-mail.
Please give enough information
to link you with your membership
record. This service is limited
to PRVCGA members or associate
members.
A list is randomly circulated or
is available upon request to
growers or buyers by telephone,
fax, or e-mail. Negotiations are
the responsibility of the buyer
and the grower. The
association does not participate
in this facet of the process.
After the sale is consummated,
it will be the responsibility of
the grower to remove the
information from the
clearinghouse list in a timely
manner. If lists are not
current, buyers will not
continue to use the service as a
resource. Please be
responsible and remove your
committed fruit in a timely
manner.
To list your fruit on the
Clearinghouse call the office at
863-494-0061, 863-773-2644 or
email us at

Best Management
Practices for the Peace River and
Manasota Basins (BMPs)
PRVCGA spearheaded creation of
Best Management Practices (BMPs) for
the Peace River and Manasota Basins.
Over sixty individuals representing
various facets of the industry to
include growers, scientists,
regulators, governmental personnel
and representatives from the
environmental community worked for a
year creating the recommended
practices.
BMPs are defined as those on-grove
operational procedures designed to
achieve greatest agronomic
efficiency in food and fiber
production, while limiting the
off-site effects of agricultural
operations and maintaining an
economically viable farming
operation. In cases where the
economic cost of implementing
certain BMPs puts an excessive
financial burden on the grower, such
practices could only be considered
BMPs if external funds were
available and the future financial
profitability of the farm will be
preserved.
To view the BMPs in its entirety ,
please visit the IFAS website:
